My Week's Request

Ann from our homestudy agency called yesterday to ask if I had received my I171-H form yet. Back in July I had received it, but they had only approved us for one child when we had asked for approval for two. Our agency had contacted them to straighten out the mistake and found that the ONE woman who was responsible for processing all the international adoption-related paperwork in the San Jose branch (one of the busiest and slowest branches in the whole country) was being removed and/or transferred from the position. So, our agency called again last week (after a polite inquiry from me explaining it had been over a month and no paper yet) to get our paperwork expedited before the new person took over the position.

So Ann called yesterday to ask if we had received it yet. I hadn't seen anything in the mail. Ann had received a faxed-copy of the corrected form Friday. Yay! So, my copy is in transit via snail-mail, and we are leaving this morning on a trip and won't be back until Sunday night!!

So please say a prayer that this paperwork stays safe in the US Postal System. I think I will have the Postmaster hold our mail until Monday, just so that it is not sitting overnight in our mailbox for 4 nights. Though locked, some of the mailboxes there have been broken into in the past. Thanks!

Another interesting thing to note, is that I have been nagging our placement agency to send back our unsigned visa applications so that we could sign them. Well, I found out that I had them all along. They had sent them to me with our dossier copies. Duh. Now we just need to sign and send.

We do have a lot of similaries! Thanks for sharing. Are you nervous or anxious about Kindergarten starting! Our twins sons start on Sept 5th. I can't believe it is here. They will do fine it is just a big moment. More emotional since we do not have our family complete so it seems to make that more obvious. Do you feel that way? Anyway, I love your blog and all of the mountain pictures! We love the outdoors too! Take care and glad you are seeing progress! MaliMai
