Question - Airlines?

For those of you who traveled to Russia and your first destination was Moscow before going on to another city, what airline did you use?

We need to be in Moscow before 3pm on the 15th of June. Delta is looking like the best option right now.

Or did you use a travel agent to book your flights? The internet makes it so easy to do ourselves now.

We used a travel agent and went on Delta - San Jose to Atlanta to Moscow. If I had to do it again, I'd book directly with Delta. When we needed to make changes when in Russia we had to deal with Delta directly so I really don't understand how the travel agent helped us.

I booked directly with british airways. I had a layover in London (a long layover b/c of where I fly out of..Seattle), but it was a great flight and we got to skip SVO altogether and instead flew into DME in Moscow, which is preferable to me.

I'm usually an internet gal, but I found the travel agent quite helpful in this instance. We had a lot of last minute shuffling to make it all happen and it was nice having someone else figure it out. Somehow, she found a better deal too.

With as many changes as airlines are making now in their prices and baggage rules I'd call a travel agent just to see, nothing says you have to purchase from them.

We used Aeroflot and Delta and booked through the internet using Vayama.com and of all things, Cheapotickets.com. We had super short notice for trip one and we had to be at a family wedding the night before we flew. Everyone said it was impossible. We found one flight with Aeroflot that went out of Toronto and got us there in time.

We used a travel agent for our first trip and used Aeroflot (LAX to SVO) because it was alot cheaper. It wasn't a nice plane, but it was fine and with no stops I just slept the whole time. (My husband didn't like it at all and was uncomforable).

On the second trip we booked the flights ourselves with United. It was alot better ... even though we had to connect through Atlanta.

If it works with your schedule (and finances) I would recommend flying in a day early and getting a good night sleep before your next flight to the region the next day.

Let me know if you want to talk by phone... I'm around all week!

We used EnRoute travel agency. Our agency recommended them and they were great and very helpful. We flew United to JFK and Aeroflot to Moscow. Take along your Tylenol PM for the trip over! We also flew in a day early on both trips and were SO glad we did.

We were delayed on our way there and it made it MUCH less stressful knowing we had a day to use if needed. We took 2 more Tylenol PM when we went to bed that night in Moscow and slept until 11 the next morning. We needed it and it helped so much being somewhat rested before our next few days meeing our daughter, etc.

Can't wait to keep up on your story.
